Imperial Cities

Imperial Cities

  • 16 days/15 nights
  • 2,800 miles
  • Epic central European ride
  • Rich in history and culture

This tour visits the heartland of Hapsberg Empire which stood for six centuries and gave birth to some of the grandest cities and towns in Europe. And, of course, some amazing roads. Early in the tour we have a free day in Vienna and an opportunity to visit the gilded Hapsburg palaces and regal parks on the banks of the blue Danube. There are opportunities to explore the Museum Quarter or browse the many wonderful boutiques and restaurants. More great riding will take us to Budapest and from there we leave the grasslands and climb into the High Tatras, beautiful snow-capped peaks with countless wonderful roads and passes through them.

The Tatras are a part of the huge Carpathians mountain range, which lead on to Krakow for another free day exploring the old city and its history. On to Prague, and two nights to explore the ‘City of a Thousand Spires’, before heading to Würzburg, a beautiful baroque city with many charms. Our next big stop is Cochem, home to the wonderful Reichsburg Cochem. This thousand-year-old castle was partly destroyed by Louis XIV’s army in 1689, but has since been restored to the original plans. Its medieval ramparts and turrets create a dramatic backdrop for the town. This tour offers a chance to explore a number of Europe’s most influential and beautiful old cities, while riding through the stunning Austrian Alps and Carpathian Mountains.
